Despite upcoming rift, Kirk publicly states in July 2025: "No non-Jewish person my age has a longer or clearer record of support for Israel... or opposition to antisemitism than I do." He calls antisemitism "evil" and "demonic." Simultaneously, his relationship with major pro-Israel donors is beginning to fracture over his associations with Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens.

Tech mogul and prominent pro-Israel donor Robert Shillman withdraws a $2 million annual donation to TPUSA. The stated reason: Kirk's refusal to cancel Tucker Carlson — a fierce critic of Israel — from upcoming TPUSA events. This triggers a cascade of donor pressure on Kirk to choose between his associations and his funding base.

Shortly before his death, Kirk publicly suggests that Jeffrey Epstein "had been a Mossad agent" and was "a creation of either Mossad, Israeli intelligence, American intelligence, Saudi intelligence, or maybe he was just a hired gun." This accelerates the donor rift and draws immediate backlash from pro-Israel figures in his orbit.

In a private WhatsApp group including Jewish associates and Newsweek opinion editor Josh Hammer, Kirk writes: "Just lost another huge Jewish donor. $2 million a year because we won't cancel Tucker. I'm thinking of inviting Candace." He continues: "Jewish donors play into all the stereotypes. I cannot and will not be bullied like this. Leaving me no choice but to leave the pro-Israel cause." Messages later authenticated by TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet and leaked by Candace Owens on Oct. 6, 2025.

Per Candace Owens Ep. 320, Bibi Netanyahu allegedly called Kirk at the Hamptons, reportedly offering to take TPUSA "to the next level" — but in exchange for what? Owens states she was "haunted" by this call and what it implies about the pressure Kirk was under in his final weeks. [ALLEGED — per Owens Ep. 320, unverified independently]

TPUSA publicly announces Kirk will visit Utah Valley University (Sept. 10) and Utah State University (Sept. 30) as part of his "American Comeback Tour" campus debate series. Students at both schools immediately begin protitions calling for cancellation. UVU permits the event citing First Amendment policy.

On the day before the assassination, Kirk is in Phoenix, Arizona. He broadcasts his show, during which he accuses Democrats of spreading a "false narrative" about racial violence. He states "White individuals are actually more likely to be attacked, especially even per capita, by Black individuals in this country." This is among his last recorded public statements before flying to Provo the following morning.

On the night before the tour, Charlie and Erika have dinner with a friend in Phoenix. Per Erika's later account: she repeatedly urges him to wear a bulletproof vest, citing death threats. He refuses, saying "If they're going to get me, they're going to get me." The friend suggests he speak from behind bulletproof glass. Charlie says "Not yet" — expressing confidence in his security team and the Utah event arrangements. This is the last night they spend together.

Per Candace Owens Ep. 282, witness "Mitch" (former Special Forces, self-described) claims he was at Fort Huachuca military intelligence base in Arizona on Sept. 9 and observed a woman he believes was Erika Kirk (95–99% certainty, based on "very rare eyes") in a lobby meeting alongside a man he believes was Brian Harpole (Kirk's security chief). Also allegedly present: Cabot Phillips and possibly Rep. Mark Amodei (R-NV). Candace confirmed Mitch's presence at the base via an incident report but states she cannot confirm who he saw. [ALLEGED — per anonymous witness "Mitch Snow," unverified independently. Erika Kirk has not publicly responded to this specific claim.]

Brian Harpole (TPUSA security chief, Integrity Security Solutions) texts UVU Police Chief Adam Long: "There is a student roof access pretty close to where CK will be set up at the Utah Valley. The Sorensen Center has a couple of staircases that go up to walkways on the roofs." Long acknowledges. No sweep, no lockdown, no monitoring of the Losee Center roof is ordered. Harpole later says on The Shawn Ryan Show: "He's watching a bunch of men lose their careers and he's okay with it."

Sources close to Kirk later say that multiple colleagues immediately flew to Utah upon learning of the shooting, with the primary concern being to reach Erika and inform her. Erika demands to see her husband's body against law enforcement advice: "With all due respect, sir. I want to see what they did to my husband and I want to give him a kiss because I didn't get to give him a kiss this morning."

Kirk arrives at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He is wearing a white shirt reading "freedom." He interacts with early attendees and hands out MAGA hats. Security team of 12 (Harpole's Integrity Security Solutions team) is deployed. Six UVU campus police officers are also working the event. No counter-snipers. No metal detectors. No bag checks.

Surveillance cameras capture Tyler Robinson, 22, driving onto campus in a gray Dodge Challenger. He is wearing a maroon t-shirt, light-colored shorts, black hat with white logo, light shoes. He will change into dark tactical gear — black clothing, black mask, helmet — at some point on campus.

Cameras catch Robinson walking across a grassy area north of Campus Drive with a notably "stiff right leg" — consistent with concealing a rifle along his leg. He pauses at a pedestrian tunnel to check his phone. He is now in dark clothing.

Affidavit confirms Robinson enters the building from the southeast side. Surveillance shows him walking along the north side of the building before ascending internal stairwells.

Stairwells connect to a public walkway with roof access. Surveillance shows Robinson crossing a railing onto the rooftop at ~12:15 PM — the exact access point Brian Harpole had warned about on Sept. 8. He crouches briefly on the north side, disappears from camera view, then runs across the roof into position.

By 12:22 PM, Robinson is lying on his stomach at the eastern edge of the Losee Center roof, facing the "Prove Me Wrong" tent approximately 430 feet away. His bolt-action rifle (later alleged to be a WWII-era Mauser Model 98 .30-06 caliber) has a scope. The bullet casings have been hand-inscribed: "Hey fascist! Catch!" and "Notices Buldge, OwO. What's this?" — evidence of extensive premeditation. Robinson had informed his roommate Lance Twiggs in advance: "I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I'm going to take it."

Expected: 600. Actual: 3,000+. No metal detectors. No bag checks. No ambulance on site. Six UVU police officers and TPUSA's 12-person private detail. Supporters chant Kirk's name. The event is outdoor, open to the public, un-ticketed.

Kirk appears wearing his white "freedom" shirt. Tosses hats into crowd. Sits under his "Prove Me Wrong" / "American Comeback Tour" tent. Seconds before being shot, his TikTok account posts a video of him telling the crowd: "Bring the best libs Utah has to offer." He is flanked by members of his security team. Tyler Robinson is in position on the roof above, 430 feet away.

Kirk is mid-answer, responding to UVU student Hunter Kozak's question: "Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?" Kirk answers: "Too many." A crack rings out. Kirk clutches his neck and collapses to his left. Eyewitness Skyler Baird, 15 feet away: "I heard a pop. I pretty much knew immediately that he wasn't going to make it." The crowd of 3,000 panics and scatters.

Immediately after firing, Robinson runs south → north corner of roof, hangs from edge and drops to the ground. Student Tanner Maxwell films the figure in dark clothing running across the rooftop. Palm prints, forearm impressions, and Converse sneaker prints later recovered at the roof edge. Robinson flees into a neighborhood north of campus. Abandons the Mauser rifle — wrapped in a towel — plus ammunition and a screwdriver in a wooded area north of campus. Robinson's DNA is later found on the rifle trigger, parts, cartridge casings, towel, and screwdriver.

Security personnel and staff carry Kirk from the courtyard and into a black SUV. No ambulance. He is driven approximately 3 miles north to Timpanogos Regional Hospital. Doctors later tell those close to Kirk: "There was no way to bring him back from the moment the bullet hit him." Kirk is pronounced dead at approximately 4:00 PM MT.

12:31 PM: "gunshots heard near the library." 12:35 PM: suspect described as "wearing jeans, black shirt, black mask, long rifle." This description does not match Robinson's full tactical gear — reflecting early confusion. 12:39 PM: FBI agents and police chiefs arrive on scene, 16 minutes after the shot.

Evidence markers placed: Converse sneaker print, forearm imprint, palm print at roof edge, gravel disturbance consistent with prone shooter position. George Zinn detained — falsely yells he was the shooter to obstruct the investigation, later charged with obstruction and found to have CSAM on his phone. Zachariah Qureshi also detained and released. Neither connected to the shooting.

TPUSA statement: "It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Charles James Kirk has been murdered." Trump on Truth Social: "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead." Gov. Cox: "This is a political assassination." U.S. flags ordered to half-staff through September 14.

Kash Patel posts on X: "The subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody." ~5:59 PM: retracted. The detained person of interest had no connection to the shooting. FBI Director Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino fly to Utah to oversee the investigation personally.

Sources close to Kirk describe the hours after his death as "chaotic." Multiple colleagues fly immediately to Utah upon learning of the shooting. Per CNN, their primary concern was ensuring Erika was informed and on her way. Conflicting information circulates as Kirk's allies try to get updates on his condition. Per one source: "He lost so much blood, but we thought there was a chance."

Erika travels from Scottsdale to Orem, Utah. At the hospital, a police officer advises her to wait for the mortuary. She refuses: "With all due respect, sir. I want to see what they did to my husband and I want to give him a kiss because I didn't get to give him a kiss this morning." She views his body. She later says he looked "so alive" and had a "Mona Lisa–like half-smile," as if he "died happy." She describes his manner of death: "He literally blinked and probably thought he was raptured."

Robinson had confessed on Discord to friends: "Hey guys... It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this. im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments." He also wrote: "I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out." A family member contacted the Washington County Sheriff. Robinson turned himself in. FBI earlier recovered the Mauser rifle from the wooded area north of campus. FBI releases $100K reward and rooftop video.

VP JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance fly to Salt Lake City to escort Kirk's body. Erika boards Air Force Two with them. As the plane lands at Phoenix Sky Harbor, an air traffic controller pays tribute: "Welcome home, Charlie. You didn't deserve it. May God bless your family." Second Lady Usha Vance holds Erika's hand as they deplane.

Erika posts to Instagram alongside a photo of Kirk in his casket: "They have no idea what they just ignited within this wife. If they thought my husband's mission was big now... you have no idea. You. All of you. Will never. Ever. Forget my husband @charliekirk1776 I'll make sure of it." Charged with: aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice (×2), witness tampering (×2), commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child. Eight days after the assassination. Board unanimous. TPUSA reports 120,000+ new chapter inquiries by the Sept. 21 memorial. At State Farm Stadium (~100,000 attend): Erika says of Robinson: "I forgive him. I forgive him because it's what Christ did. And it's what Charlie would do."

Robinson's defense files a motion to delay the May preliminary hearing.
